This page will feature the rantings of Dave Eade, known as Deeej to those familiar with his online persona, he will give us his views and opinions, be they critical or full of praise on every County fixture
This page is solely opinion of a Stockport County fan and in no way represents the views of Stockport County Football Club.
A first match report is important and why? because if it's negative then people don't want to hear it, if it contains swear words then it's spoken from the mind of an idiot, and if it long despite your team losing 4-0 then it's going to be boring. So let me sum it all, we wouldn't have scored if were still playing now and we would have conceded our 100th by now...........SHIT, TWAT, FUCK!
2 out of 3 ain't bad.
A game is all about opinions, the team performance matched the result but only because we can't take our chances and believe me we had our chances. Millwall on the other hand are physical, intelligent and they take their chances, on our best days we are like that but not today. It's been such a roller coaster already and yet I am still magnificently proud of each our players, everyone has done what they have been told, the manager has done the best of his ability and the staff who perform everyday duties at the club have done miracles, because at the end of it all, no one really knows how long this dream will continue.
Yes we lost 4-0, yes we deserved to lose we did not deserve the blank, Greg Tansey provided fantastic balls in the first half which troubled the Millwall keeper giving us set piece opportunities, Baker made the most of his chances creating them from nothing and Thomson did his distraction trick throughout.
The first half was something to forget, we lost it 3-0 which is worrying when you are away, but at home its desperate. After 12 minutes I could hear that EP was silent, sadly I was returning with the drum after forgetting to get it out my car after a small session watching Chelsea lose.
Goals from Robinson and a brace from Harris was great to watch if you were a Millwall fan, it seemed like the County defence weren't that interested but that could be the beer taking effect, Harris even found time to delay his inevitable hat trick by taking the advice every pundit says when taking a penalty, "hit it down the middle"
Owain took advantage even though it looked like he was wrong footed and basically fluked the penalty, he of course caught the penalty which is odd in itself.
Despite 1-0, 2-0 and eventually 3-0 we always looked like scoring, the set piece provided our main chances since free kicks were at the plenty 24 in total for the game. Tansey troubled the keeper on many occasions with Thomson causing confusion in the box, the result was goal mouth mayhem and still not goals.
Half time was met with a chorus of boos, on this rare occasion I respect those who made that choice to boo, it's not what we paid for but it may be pointed out that the man upstairs could have some questions to ask about all this. (I am not talking about god).
The second half started with absolutely no atmosphere, no hope, just a small sense of "how many will be concede in the second half". It was Neil Harris who carved up another goal thanks again to defence frailt ies. The last 20 minutes was only notable for the County fans singing for a goal, or some kind of inspiration. It didn't come and what a shame it was too, but positives to come out of this...........none but lets start again and concentrate on the next game.
County 0 - 4 Millwall ................10 of out 10 for the neutral.
